Jaw Clicking Pain: How To Fix Jaw Clicking

jaw clicking painYour jaw is clicking when your eating, it hurts to chew and open your mouth wide. Jaw clicking pain is a symptom of a common condition called TMJ. Your definitely not alone, about 30% of the population have symptoms of TMJ and most dentists and therapists are treating it poorly, dismissing it as stress related.

But what can help you out right now?

TMJ exercises are perfect for jaw clicking and jaw pain. Jaw clicking is caused by the misalignment of your jaw, because some of your tendons and muscles are pulling it slightly out of place.

To combat this TMJ exercises stretch, massage and strengthen certain muscles in your body which in turn release pressure on the tendons and muscles in your jaw. This allows your jaw to relax and find it’s correct position and relieves you of your jaw pain and clicking.

How Long Until The Pain Goes Away?

Typically these exercises take about 2 – 3 weeks to work, depending on the condition of your jaw muscles. Some people cure their jaw clicking symptoms in as little as a few days and the pain disappears just a few days after that. These exercises aren’t a miracle cure, you can’t expect to do them once and then go off and start chewing on a nice big steak. To achieve the best results you need to commit to doing the exercises daily.

They are quick and simple, only taking about 10 minutes to do and they are easy to get right.

Hi Glenda,

That sounds awful, I feel for you. What I think might be happening is the ligaments in your jaw have been severely loosened and weakened for some reason. Do you clench your jaw/grind your teeth alot? This may have caused the problems.

The ligaments are meant to hold your jaw in position securely and obviously when they are loose and weak, your jaw can dislocate. The new pain could be caused by any number of things.

I strongly urge you to see your doctor as soon as possible.

Hope this helps a bit.

Tom
