You may have been to your dentist to help get rid of that nagging jaw pain and have been recommended a mouth guard or orthotic. If you’re in this position you may be trying to figure out if it’s worth the expense, because sometimes these procedures can be costly.
If you have consistent pain and your dentist recommends an orthoic or TMJ mouth guard, you should of course listen to the professional. Many dentists successfully treat TMJ problems with these orthotics, because they reduce the strain on the muscles that causes alot of the pain. They also aloow your jaw to rest properly and begin to function normally.
What you don’t want to do is try the ‘cheap’ version of this treatment. This usually involves buying a cheap mouth guard for TMJ and expecting great results. You might be lucky and start to feel improvements, but because the guard hasn’t been properly fitted for your jaw by a dentist it will be far less effective.
For those in Wyoming, David S. Peterson is an experienced and very clever dentist that has a great track record with TMJ Disorders. You can find his website here: Cosmetic Dentist Wyoming

Hello
I emailed for the exercises quite some time ago and as yet haven’t received any. Please could you re-send?
Many thanks
Resent the exercises to you.
Tom.
I did your exercises for TMJ several months ago and they helped a lot! I also changed my pillow which added to the relief. However, last Tuesday I had some plastic surgery done on my face and it really set off the TMJ once again! This time, I am getting headaches on the right side of my head above my siunuses on that side which is the side I have the TMJ problem. I am trying to relieve these but so far it only helps for a while. Seems to be my neck and below my ear that is hurting also.
Guess I should do more of the stretches…right??
Thanks for your site, it is needed!!
